Former prime minister and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, delivered a live address to the nation on Tuesday, claiming his awareness of the immense pressure faced by the judiciary and the alarming issue of judges receiving “phone calls from unidentified numbers”.
Khan revealed that judges were being contacted and threatened with the exposure of their confidential files if they did not comply with certain orders. However, despite these concerns, he expressed his confidence in the judiciary, stating his belief that it would uphold the rule of law in the country.
Khan went on to highlight the misuse of various institutions, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), for dubious purposes. He alleged that these institutions were selectively targeting PTI and overlooking other important matters. The PTI chief also claimed that some government and police officials were discontented with this biased approach and the crackdown against his party.
