Islamabad sizzled at 42°C as heatwaves continued to prevail in Pakistan on Tuesday.

Experts have predicted the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist on Wednesday and the next two days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure at the upper atmospheric level prevails over the central and southern parts of the country and will likely persist during the next four days.

Under these conditions, very hot and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Wednesday and the next two days.

Day temperatures will likely remain between 04°C to 06°C above normal levels in Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan. Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C to 07°C above normal levels in central, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41°C and 43°C on Wednesday and between 42°C and 44°C on Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 39°C and 41°C on Wednesday and between 40°C and 42°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Sibbi remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. The maximum temperature in Rahim Yar Khan, Dadu, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Jacobabad was recorded at 47°C, and in Rohri, Khairpur, Nawabshah and Larkana at 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 19 per cent.
