ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday and Friday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s western and upper parts.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northern Balochistan on Wednesday evening/night and the following two days. Dust-raising winds are likely in the southern parts of the country.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan landslides. Windstorm/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 30-32 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 29-31 C on Friday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 29-31 C on Thursday and 28-30 C on Friday.
Meanwhile, rainfall occurred at isolated places in the Potohar region, south Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Dry weather prevailed elsewhere in the country.
Nawabshah remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature reached 43 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at per cent.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 31 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 65 per cent.
Rawalpindi recorded a maximum temperature of 31 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 48 per cent.
