Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; light to moderate rain likely

ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rain is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Saturday night and Sunday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of Pakistan from Saturday.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is likely in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Friday night. Very cold weather is likely in northern areas. Shallow fog (in patches) is likely to develop in isolated plain areas of south Punjab and upper Sindh.

On Saturday and Sunday, light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is likely in the twin cities, upper/central Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05-07°C on Saturday and 04-06°C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Smoggy/foggy conditions persisted in patches in plain areas of south Punjab and upper Sindh.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 10°C below the freezing point.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 27 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 06°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 22 per cent.
