ISLAMABAD – Cloudy weather with light to moderate rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening/night and Monday.
Snowfall is also expected over hilly areas during the period.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over upper/western parts of Pakistan which will likely strengthen tonight.
Under these conditions, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm and snowfall over hills is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and at isolated places of upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and north Balochistan on Sunday evening/night and Monday with occasional gaps,
Cold and dry weather is likely elsewhere in the country. Shallow fog (in patches) is likely in isolated plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning/night hours.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 06-08°C on Monday and 05-07°C on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 09-11°C on Monday and 08-10 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Smoggy/foggy conditions persisted in patches in plain areas of Punjab.
However, rain- thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in northern/south Balochistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Cold/partly cloudy weather prevailed over other parts of the country.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 09°C below the freezing point.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 06°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 09°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 77 per cent.
