Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped government from fixing the chicken meat price through whats app. The court while stopping the Punjab government from harassing the shop keepers has sought reply from it on next hearing.
A single bench of LHC presided over by Justice Jawad ul Hassan took up for hearing petition filed by Poultry Association on Friday. Abu Zar Suleman Khan Niazi and Suleman Akram Raja appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
The counsels for the petitioner took the stance government is fixing price of chicken meat and eggs through whats App message. Punjab government and administration is neither entitled to fix the prices of eggs and chicken meat through whats app message nor any notification of district administration in regard to fixing the price of chicken meat is there. The counsel for the petitioner raised the point chicken feed has become too much costly but government is harassing the shop keepers who are not selling the chicken as per whats app prices. It is illegal.
He prayed the court to stop the government from fixing the price of chicken through whats app message. Justice Jawad ul Hassan remarked if chicken goes out of the approach of poor people due to high prices then I will not be able to sleep. We will not allow chicken to go out of the reach of poor people at any cost; The court inquired if government is running on whats app.
