ISLAMABAD – International Day to Combat Islamophobia is being observed today.

The United Nations General Assembly is holding the 62nd plenary in this regard.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram will deliver a statement on the occasion.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that she strongly condemned Islamophobia. Due to Islamophobia, she said, the discriminatory attitude is adopted against the Muslims.

The CM said that the Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir are being targeted just because of Islamophobia.

“Islam is a religion of peace and the Muslims believe in peace,” said CM Maryam.

Islam, she said, provided fundamental rights. She stressed upon the efforts to end Islamophobia, and urged the Muslim countries to get united.

Maryam urged the UN, OIC and other international organization to speed up their efforts against Islamophobia.
