Islamabad: On the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, President Arif Alvi Thursday said that the special responsibility rests with the parliaments of the world for sustainable development and fundamental human rights.

In his special message, the President posted on Twitter and lauded the parliament of Pakistan for its role in future building and ensuring public participation in decision-making.

“The parliament of Pakistan is playing its role for sustainable future building on the basis of equality and ensuring public participation in decision making. The parliament is the ultimate forum to address the problems faced by the people.”

The President emphasised that the parliament should seize every chance to guarantee the welfare of all societal groups, long-term growth, and the nation’s collective future.

According to the President, minorities in Pakistan have the right to exercise their religion.

Arif Alvi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the advancement of a parliamentary system that is powerful, effective, and entirely reflective of the people.
