ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday sought comprehensive plan within 15 days for the establishment of the Safe City in Dasu and Chilas in a bid to security, especially to the Chinese citizens.
Naqvi announced a comprehensive plan for the foolproof security of Chinese and foreign citizens in Dasu and Chilas.
“Preparations are underway to implement a Safe City Project in these areas, with a special committee formed to present final recommendations within 15 days,” said the sources close to the development.
A committee has been formed comprising the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Hazara, and a representative from WAPDA.
In a meeting chaired by Minister Naqvi, the establishment of the Safe City Project was thoroughly reviewed.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister directed the swift implementation of this project, which would align with modern standards similar to those in Islamabad and Lahore.
“The Safe City Project is not merely about installing cameras but setting up a system equipped with advanced technology and artificial intelligence tools,” said Minister Naqvi.
“This initiative aims to ensure the comprehensive monitoring and security of the region.”
The Islamabad Police will provide full support for the project, and a detailed plan will be jointly prepared by WAPDA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, and Islamabad Police.
“It is our responsibility to protect the Chinese citizens contributing to Pakistan’s development,” he stated. “No effort will be spared in fulfilling this duty.”
The meeting saw the participation of Federal Secretary of Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman WAPDA Lieutenant General (R) Sajjad Ghani, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi. Additionally, the Additional Chief Secretary Home, Additional IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and RPO Hazara joined via video link.
