Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif on Friday said that Indonesia has three attractions that can draw investors to the country.

The first attraction is that Indonesia has an advantage in terms of resources, including clean and renewable energy resources, which can attract investment into the country, he explained.

“Indonesia, if we look at its resources, is extraordinary and also includes clean renewable energy sources. Thus, this is an attraction for investors to come here,” he said at the “National Seminar on Indonesia’s Economic Outlook 2024” in Jakarta on Friday.

He added that Indonesia’s clean energy can be sourced from hydrogen, green ammonia, and other types of clean energy sources that will be needed in the future.

Tasrif said that the second attraction is Indonesia’s geographical position, which is deemed strategic. Meanwhile, the third attraction is the country’s reliable demographic aspect.

The opportunity behind many countries wanting to cooperate with Indonesia, he added, must be responded to by selecting cooperation potentials that can bring prosperity to Indonesia going forward.

“Many countries want to cooperate, but we also have to choose which direction to go in which provides the best value for development in this country for our prosperity going forward,” he said.

The minister also highlighted that improvements in regulations or policies are needed to attract investment in the new and renewable energy sector.

Supporting infrastructure for new and renewable energy also needs to be built to make it more accessible to the community and, at the same time, attract investment into Indonesia.

“We must build the energy infrastructure. We must prepare energy that can be easily accessed and attract investment,” he said.— Antara
