DUBAI – India Women beat Pakistan Women by six wickets in a Group-A match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Dubai on Sunday.
Chasing a below-par 106-run target for the victory over arch-rivals, India crossed the finish line for the loss of four wickets with seven balls to spare.
Opener Shafali Verma was the highest scorer with 32 runs followed by Harmanpreet Kaur who made 29. Jamimah Rodrigues made 23 runs. Fatima Sana bagged two wickets while Sadia Iqbal and Omaima Sohail took one wicket each. Arundhati Reddy was named player of the match.
Earlier, Pakistan made 105/8 in the allocated 20 overs. Nida Dar was the top scorer with 28 runs. Muneeba Ali made 17 runs, Syeda Aroob Shah 14 and Sana Fatima 13 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures.
Arundhati Reddy took three wickets and Shreyanka Patil two while Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma and Asha Sobhana bagged one wicket each.
