LAHORE – The Indian cricket board (BCCI), which refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, now needs the help of the Green Shirts to play in the ICC World Test Championship final.
Following the Brisbane Test match against Australia ending in a draw on Thursday, India’s hopes of playing the World Test Championship final have started to fade, and they now rely on Pakistan.
Australia, India, South Africa, and Sri Lanka are currently in contention for qualification to the ICC Test Championship final.
How can India qualify for the World Test Championship final?
For India to qualify for the final, their fans, board, and team will have to pray that Pakistan wins both of its remaining Test matches against South Africa. Following that, India needs to secure just one Test victory against host Australia to book their place in the final.
There is another tougher route for India to play in the World Test Championship final. If India wins both of its remaining matches—Melbourne and Sydney Tests—against Australia, they would directly qualify. However, defeating the Kangaroos on their home ground is an extremely challenging task for India.
If India managed to win the series against Australia 1-3, they would secure a spot in the final.
