SWABI – Key member of PTI founder Imran Khan’s legal team, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has been released after brief arrest on Friday.
Marwat, PTI Senior Vice President, was arrested from Chakdara, a city in the Lower Dir District of KP. The outspoken politician was earlier booked for provoking masses against state institutions through social media.
Khan close aide was held in Chakdara, when he was heading from Bajaur to Chakdara to attend PTI workers’ convention.
Later, PTI Lawyers Forum senior vice president Adeel Butt confirmed his release.
PTI also responded to his arrest, calling it kidnapping. In a social media post, PTI demands immediate release of Marwat, saying these pressure tactics cannot work.
It further mentioned that pre-poll rigging attempts must be immediately stopped, and called on Chief Justice of Pakistan to look into the ‘unlawful arrest’.
