IHC summons Shahzad Akbar over rising crimes in capital

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday summoned Advisor to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior Mirza Shahzad Akbar on December 24.
The IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah was hearing the cases of rising crime, the plight of the courts and the establishment of the Prosecution Branch in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked the state has completely failed to fulfill its responsibility.
Chief Justice Atharmanullah said the IHC was expecting from the government and the court has no interest in reports. “There has been no prosecution branch in the federal government for decades. ICT should be a model place,” he remarked.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah summoned Advisor to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior Mirza Shehzad Akbar in person on December 24, the TV channel reported.
The court inquired with the Deputy Attorney General that when this constitution came while showing the draft of the constitution of Pakistan, to which ATG replied that the constitution came in 1973.
IHC CJ remarked that it was written in the constitution that quick and immediate justice will be provided to every citizen but you have made many problems for provision of justice for citizens.
“All the obstacles in the delivery of justice are from the state and the blame falls on the courts,” Chief Justice further remarked.
“We are not interested in the reports you submitted. Tell us in ten days about a practical solution otherwise, we will summon the highest official,” IHC CJ Athar Minallah said.
