The Islamabad High Court has reinstated the bail applications of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the trial courts and annulled their decisions to deny bail to him. The IHC on Monday pronounced the reserved verdict on the request to restore the nine bail applications of the former prime minister.
Chief Justice AamerFarooq and Justice Tariq MehmoodJahangiri accepted the petition of the PTI chairman to reinstate his bail applications. These cases include three cases of May 9, three cases of protest in Islamabad, Toshakhana case, violation of Article 144 and attempted murder cases. Six applications are in sessions court and three are in anti-terrorism court.
The sessions court and anti-terrorism court had rejected the bail applications of Imran Khan in these cases on the grounds of non-pursuance. Chairman PTI had challenged the decision to reject the bails and requested in his applications in the IHC that 9 bail applications be considered pending in the respective courts and that his arrest be prevented in these cases till the final decision of the concerned courts. He beseeched the IHC to direct the relevant courts to decide the cases on merit.—NNI
