Inspector General of Punjab Police Inam Ghani has urged young officers to ensure protection of life and property of citizens.
He was talking to a delegation of young ASPs who called on him at the Central Police Office here on Thursday.
The IGP said that selfless service to the citizens was the primary responsibility of the police. Young police officers playing the best supervisory role were not only the hands of the oppressed but also their hope. They must ensure best performance from their subordinate staff and easy delivery of justice to the people.
He said that the citizens have high expectations from the young officers for modern policing and change of police station culture. Therefore, the young officers should make the spirit of modern policing, high professionalism and service to the people their motto and improve the relations between the police and the people.
IGP Ghani said that posting in difficult areas at the beginning of career should be preferred as it could give officers the best chance to learn the art of policing.
He said that it was the responsibility of the supervisory officers to get the best performances from the subordinates. They should repose confidence in their staff and adopt soft and good attitude with them so that they serve the people without any fear.
He advised them that the citizens visiting the offices should be treated with kindness and sincere efforts should be made to solve their problems.
The young officers thanked the IG Punjab and said that they would remain active for the protection and service of the citizens as per the vision and policy guideline and would spare no effort to solve their problems.
DIG Headquarters Punjab Syed Khurram Ali was also present on the occasion.
