LAHORE – The Punjab government has finalised the process to provide free solar systems to public across the province.
The scheme has been launched to provide relief to vulnerable section of society amid rising electricity prices in Pakistan.
The free solar system scheme will cost the government Rs10 billion, reports said on Thursday.
Who is Eligible for Punjab Solar System Scheme 2024?
The government will provide solar systems to 50,000 families for free of cast. The families, who consumes up to 100 units, are eligible to apply for the scheme. All expenses of the solar setup will be paid by the provincial government.
Those who have been involved in electricity theft, meter tampering and other illegal activities will not be eligible for the scheme.
The data of families consuming up to 100 units per month will be sent to the National Telecommunication. The NTC will later forward the data to the Punjab Information Technology Board after verification.
The board will later provide the lists to district administration, which will provide the solar system to eligible families.
Punjab Solar Scheme Register Process
Families consuming up to 100 electricity units per month can register with the scheme through SMS. They are required to send their bill reference number and CNIC to 8800.
After verification, they will be informed about the results.
