ISLAMABAD – Pakistani ministers get monthly salary of Rs2lac per month while lawmakers of the National Assembly receive Rs156,000 each month.

The revelations were made by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar in the Senate about salaries, perks, and allowances of federal ministers during Senate’s session.

Tarar lately shared details about benefits of federal ministers as they are not allotted official vehicles and got Rs8,000 per month for bills.

Federal ministers have Rs2lac monthly salary, with majority choosing not to claim their full salary. He also mentioned that ministers were allotted 1500cc car and 400 liters of fuel, with no additional official perks.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet decided to work without salaries and benefits as part of the government’s ongoing austerity measures aimed at reducing unnecessary expenditures and promoting fiscal responsibility.

This decision aligns with premier’s earlier commitment to austerity as a top priority.
