How can Pakistan, Indian nationals avoid fines for late renewal of Emirates ID card?

ABU DHABI – The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that three categories are exempted from fines for the late renewal of the Emirates ID card.

It is mandatory for all UAE nationals and residents to hold the valid Emirates ID card. It is also must to get the cards renewed within 30 days from the date of expiry and in case of failure a fine of 20 Dirham per day will be imposed and it can go up to maximum 1,000 Dirhams.

The ICP in social media posts announced that UAE nationals and expats, including Pakistani and Indians, who fall in the three categories, will be exempted from the late renewal fines. Following are the individual exempted from the fines:

  1. An individual who left the UAE and spent more than three months outside the country, and the validity of his or her card expired after the date of their departure from the country.
  2. An individual whose identity card has expired after being deported by a court order, an administrative decision, or a judicial ruling, or whose passport is seized pending cases, provided that this is proven by a letter or a receipt issued by the competent authorities that deported him or suspended the pending cases.
  3. An individual who has not been issued an identity card for the period before obtaining the nationality of the UAE and before obtaining the family book.

If the customer falls under the categories exempted from payment of delay penalties, the following steps shall be followed:

Applying for the service via the smart service system

Enclosing the required documents for getting the service and following up the application

Getting the result of the application, whether approval or refusal, then completing the application for the ID Card.
