HCTRS Karachi University gets registration certificate from Pakistan

Pakistan Halal Authority (PHA), Islamabad, the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, has awarded a “registration certificate” to the Halal Certification, Testing and Research Services (HCTRS), working under the umbrella of HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi.

The HCTRS in the Prof. Wolfgang Voelter Laboratories Complex at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, provides sustainable solutions to the regulatory authorities, industries, academia, and consumers.

This was discussed in a faculty meeting held at the HEJ Research Institute, presided over by Prof. Dr. FarzanaShaheen, the Director of the ICCBS, University of Karachi. The Director congratulated the HCTRS’ project team, including Prof. Dr. Syed Ghulam Musharraf, Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, and Dr. Shakil Ahmed on this significant achievement.

She said the federal authority’s award of this registration certificate showed that the HCTRS, the only facility for Halal services in the public sector research institution, was committed to the ideal of quality and excellence in laboratory operations.

It is pertinent to mention here that the HCTRS offers Halal Certification Services in various fields. At the same time, some major areas included food of animal origin (slaughtering, meat, and meat products), food of plant origin, beverages, all processed foods, food services and facilities, export, import, distribution, retail, transport with associated packaging and storage, and auxiliary services, etc.  On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, Prof. Dr. Atta-urRahman, Professor Emeritus and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. M. IqbalChoudhary, the Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, and UNESCO CHAIR on Medicinal and Bio-Organic Natural Product Chemistry ICCBS, also congratulated the entire team that made untiring efforts to attain this significant achievement and appreciated the teamwork.
