Handicapped daily wagers get contracts

The visually impaired temporary employees of Punjab ending protests across the province have expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing process of transferring their services from daily wages to the contract employment after assurance given by the Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat.
The announcement was made by representatives of 634 protesting blind employees after successful talks with the minister at the Civil Secretariat. Secretary Social Welfare Zahid Saleem Gondal was also present at the meeting.
According to details, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar had promised 634 protesting visually impaired daily wagers to award them contract in provincial departments. Raja Bashart told them that more than half of the people have received appointment orders so far and the rest were under process while 82 visually impaired employees who were staying at Lahore’s shelter homes would be soon sent to their native districts along with social welfare officers who would coordinate to get appointment orders from their concerned deputy commissioners.
