Imprisoned leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz’s health deteriorated in jail on Monday. The PML-N leader, currently incarcerated in Kot Lakhpat Jail, is said not to be in a position to attend the ongoing Punjab Assembly session due to his ailing condition. It may be recalled that his health had deteriorated a few days back as well. The senior PML-N leader is in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a money laundering case.

On November 11, 2020, Opposition Leader in National Assembly and PML-N president Mian Shehbaz Sharif and son Hamza Shehbaz were indicted in money laundering reference by accountability court.
All the accused in the case pleaded not guilty. Shehbaz Sharif, while rejecting allegations of the anti-graft watchdog, said that he was being politically victimized.
