GWADAR The goods transited by “DIYALA” Cargo Ship along Karachi-Gwadar Shipping (KGS) arrived here on schedule, as Gwadar Port’s operation does not halt in wake of world-wide COVID-19. According to officials of Gwadar Port, they have taken decisive measures to prevent, control the pandemic to ensure its smooth operation. When Pakistan saw its first confirmed COVID-19 case, officials of Gwadar Port immediately launched an emergency response plan to prevent and control the spread of the disease. Gwadar Port officials imposed movement restrictions for people and vehicles, issued the epidemic prevention notice to local employees, and discouraged them to contact with suspected cases. What is more, an emergency liaison team was set up to investigate more about returning workers and put them in quarantine if necessary. According to Gwadar Pro App, China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan (COPHC-Pakistan), the company building Gwadar Port, together with other Chinese enterprises in Gwadar, donated a batch of epidemic prevention materials, including disposable surgical masks, disinfectants and hand sanitizers to hospitals in Gwadar to cater the local epidemic prevention needs. As per officials of Gwadar Port, Chinese companies in Gwadar will also purchase medical supplies by all means to assist local government and hospitals to fight against the pandemic. Besides, various prevention and control measures have been carried out in an orderly manner. So far Gwadar reported zero case of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 infection.
