Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Khan Leghari has announced a significant decrease in electricity bills for the month of April.

In a statement, Leghari revealed a reduction of Rs3.82 per unit on electricity bills for April. This move comes as a relief to households and businesses grappling with rising utility costs.

He noted that fuel price adjustments for the current month have been set at Rs4.92 per unit, down from Rs7.06 per unit last month, resulting in a reduction of Rs. 2.14 per unit in fuel prices.

The previous adjustment was Rs4.43 per unit, now reduced to Rs. 2.75 per unit, resulting in a decrease of Rs1.68 per unit in electricity tariffs.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to easing the burden on consumers, the minister said that the reduction comes following directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce the problems of the people.

He further pointed out that NEPRA, the regulatory authority, plays a crucial role in determining the reference tariff for the entire year, setting the framework for subsequent adjustments.
