ISLAMABAD – The federal government decided to discontinue different slabs on gas and enforce uniform rates, the sources familiar with the sources said on Tuesday.
The decision is a substantial blow to the gas consumers across the board.
The sources said that the consumers would be subject to identical charges for gas usage
regardless of consumption levels.
The sources also said that alongside taxation, the consumers would now face a flat charge of Rs. 4,501 for every MMBTU that was utilized.
The decision, they said, would impact consumers in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
Moreover, the various consumer categories including domestic, commercial, general industry, and export-oriented sectors would no longer benefit from differential pricing.
Instead, the prices would be standardized across all sectors, they added.
