Governor Punjab and Chancellor, Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman has praised the flood relief efforts by the faculty, employees and students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
The Governor expressed these views during a meeting with Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur at Governor House, Lahore. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor presented a cheque of Rs. 5.8 million to the Chancellor from the faculty and staff of the University for the flood relief fund.
Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor apprised the Governor about flood relief activities by the flood relief cell of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under a focal person Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Chairman, Social Work Department.
The University has provided flood relief goods worth Rs. 20 million including ration bags, medicines and veterinary services for the people of flood hit areas of the Southern Punjab including Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan districts. Prof. Dr. Abubakar, Treasurer, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was also present on this occasion.
The Vice Chancellor also briefed the Governor about academic and development activities at the University and progress to set-up new campuses at Ahmed Pur East and Liaquatpur.
He also invited Engr. Muhammad Baligh ul Rahman to preside the 17th convocation of the University and meeting of the University Senate in mid October. The Governor shared his consent to preside the convocation as well as other University events during his upcoming visit to Bahawalpur.
