LAHORE – The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has allocated seats in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) program specifically for diploma holders.
Punjab Medical Faculty diploma holders can avail up to 5% reserved seats in BSc Allied Health Sciences.
The Diploma holders are also eligible to apply for admission on open merit seats.
The UHS Board of Studies has approved this initiative, with Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore chairing the 29th meeting of the Board.
Head officials and representatives from medical institutions across Punjab participated in the discussion. The request to allocate seats to UHS was submitted by the Secretary of Punjab Medical Faculty. It was proposed to reserve seats in the BSc program for two-year diploma holders in eight different disciplines.
The diploma holders from the Punjab Medical Faculty are eligible for admission to BSc Medical Technology programs. Dispensers with a diploma can enroll in the BSc Emergency and Intensive Care program.
Medical Lab Technicians can pursue admission in BSc Medical Laboratory Technology while Operation Theater Technicians can apply for the BSc Operation Theater Technology program.
Physiotherapy Technicians will qualify for admission to Doctor of Physical Therapy and Cardiac Technicians can enroll in the BSc Cardiac Perfusion program. The decision offers an opportunity for skilled technicians to enhance their qualifications, as per VC UHS.
The annual academic calendar for BSc Allied Health Programs has also been approved. The classes for the new calendar would commence from March 1st, with summer vacations scheduled from July 22nd to August 14th. The coursework will conclude by November 30th, followed by end-of-semester exams starting December 2nd, 2024.
UHs VC Professor Ahsan Waheed Rahore aid that the nine programs have been transitioned to the semester system, as per Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore. The VC said that the remaining six programs will also be shifted to the semester-based system next year, Professor Rathore added.
