Sindh Education and Labor Minister Saeed Ghanihas said that we will not allow anyone to seize the land and assets of steel mills. “The biggest robbery in the history of this country is privatization, it should be investigated.” The current incompetent and selected federal government has to give 19,000 acres of land worth millions of rupees to its ATMs behind the eviction of employees from the steel mill. He expressed these views during a press conference in his office on Thursday along with the office bearers of the Supreme Council formed by the sacked employees of Steel Mills. “Whatever decision has to be taken regarding Steel Mill, PIA, WAPDA, Railways and other national institutions can be taken only by placing it in the CCI meeting. Incompetent, incompetent and selected government and its federal cabinet can’t take solitary decisions.” He said, “We stand with the steel mill workers and in this regard, the Sindh Chief Minister has formed a four-member committee of the provincial cabinet, which will talk to the federal government. We will write a letter to the federal government regarding these workers and steel mills.” Ghani said the Sindh government had requested to run a steel mill and we made this offer to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. President People’s Labor Bureau Sindh Habib-ud-Din Junaidi, officials of all unions of Steel Mill and others were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that thousands of passengers were stranded for 12 hours in Karachi and inland due to the closure of train service and 4544 sacked employees of Steel Mills continued to protest but the indifference of the federal government was such that no one from their side contacted the aggrieved workers. “We are grateful to the sacked employees and their Supreme Council for ending the sit-in on the railway track on our appeal,” Ghani said. . He said that we have fulfilled our promise to form a committee from these sacked employees and Sindh Chief Minister has formed a committee of 4 members including me including Syed NasirHussain Shah, Murtaza Wahab and Waqar Mehdi and now the committee will discuss with the federation the issues of the sacked employees and steel mills. In addition, we assured the dismissed employees that the Sindh government stands by them and we will not accept this illegal dismissal under any circumstances.
