The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has escalated its protest against what it labels as Pakistan’s worst and fraudulent elections, announcing plans to intensify its movement across Sindh. On February 27, designated as the “Black Day,” GDA’s Secretary Information, Sardar Abdul Rahim, instructed party workers throughout the province to ensure peaceful demonstrations while remaining vigilant against any unwarranted obstacles.
Emphasizing a commitment to non-violent protest, Rahim cautioned against police interference, particularly urging respect for the safety and dignity of peaceful demonstrators, especially women. He cited the previous day’s shutdown of Karachi’s roads as a precursor, warning that if peaceful demonstrations are hindered, the entire province of Sindh will witness a complete shutdown. Reiterating their constitutional right to protest, Rahim affirmed that GDA would not tolerate any arrests of its members. He underscored their unwavering resolve against the alleged electoral malpractice, refusing to accept bogus or fraudulent elections.
The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) intends to halt its protest only after the announcement of fresh elections, gauging their growing popularity across Karachi and Sindh as evidenced by widespread support from political parties, excluding the Pakistan Peoples party (PPP) and Mutahid Qaumimovement Pakistan MQM-P.
Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has called for a demonstration on Tuesday, across its organizational offices in Karachi and throughout Sindh, with workers wearing black armbands staging protests outside press clubs.
