Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) conducted a major operation against gas thieves in the Ghaghar Phatak area of Karachi, dismantling a network supplying illegal gas connections to hundreds of homes. The operation revealed that a 24-inch diameter main transmission line had been illegally clamped to divert gas to several settlements, including Qadir Goth, Sabu Goth, Pir Bakhsh Goth, and Mehmood Goth.

The stolen gas was being supplied to hundreds of households in these areas. SSGC’s Counter Gas Theft Operations (CGTO) department, along with the Gas Transmission team, led the raid. “The gang responsible for clamping the transmission line and providing illegal gas connections to these areas has been identified,” stated an SSGC spokesperson. The operation also confiscated equipment used in the theft, including rubber pipes, iron pipes, clamps, and other materials.

Legal action, including the filing of FIRs, will be taken against those involved in this large-scale theft. “The culprits will also face penalties based on the volume of stolen gas,” the spokesperson added. SSGC reaffirmed its commitment to curbing gas theft and ensuring accountability for those involved in such illegal activities.
