ISLAMABAD – Former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed on Thursday submitted his response to the Faizabad Commission holding inquiry into the matter, saying that he had nothing to with the allegations of conspiracy against the then government.

Faiz Hameed said that he held talks with the TLP protestors on the directions of the then government.

“General retired Faiz Hameed has recorded his statement,” said the sources privy to the development.

Faizabad Inquiry Commission led by Dr. Akhtar Ali Shah is investigating the matter. Senior officials including Tahir Alam and Khushal Khan are also part of the commission.

The commission had summoned Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hammed to record his statement but he skipped the hearing for twice.

On November 8, 2017, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan organized a sit-in at Faizabad interchange against the amendments in the Election Bill 2017, changing the word oath to declaration.

The sources familiar with the development stated that the summons was sent to Faiz Hameed via the defense ministry.

The former ISI chief has been directed to appear before the probe commission for the recording of his statement in the Faizabad sit-in case.

This is the second time that Faiz Hameed has been summoned by the Faizabad sit-in probe commission.

In the recent hearing of Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui case against his removal as IHC judge, the Supreme Court of Pakistan also issued notice to former ISI chief Lt.General (retd) Faiz Hameed.

The notices were also issued to former IHC chief justice Anwar Khan Kasi, former registrar of the Supreme Court Arbab Muhammad Arif and brig. (Retd) Irfan Ramay.
