LAHORE – Former PTI MNA Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday wrote a letter to the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts, expressing concerns regarding the cases against him.
Fawad Chaudhry wrote a letter to Justice Malik Shehzad, the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi regarding the cases against him. The letter sought access to CCTV footages and documents related to the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs).
Fawad Chaudhary’s letter said that he is currently facing cases in the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.
Despite clear instructions from the high court, the judges are not allowing media and the public access to the trial.
“The lawyers are also facing unnecessary difficulties in gaining access to the courtroom,” said Fawad Chaudhary.
He also mentioned in the letter that such actions in the case proceedings raised concerns. The former federal minister said, “There is a lack of adherence to the proper procedure for charge framing and the decision on requests. These actions further undermine the transparency of the judicial process,”.
In the letter addressed to the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts, Fawad Chaudhry also stated that despite multiple requests, the trial courts are not providing important documents and evidence.
“Denial of access to these documents violates the defendant’s right to a fair trial and effective legal defense,” said the lawyer.
He asked the court that the CCTV footages from the Rawalpindi and Faisalabad ATCs be handed over. He also urged that the documents, court orders and the evidentiary material be provided to the defendant’s lawyer.
Fawad Chaudhry emphasized that “your attention to this matter is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the judicial process,”.
