ISLAMABAD – The deadline for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers for the upcoming general elections has been extended until Wednesday.

The Election Commission has announced that decisions on these appeals will be finalized by the 10th of this month.

A preliminary list featuring the names of candidates is set to be publicly displayed on the 11th, providing an early overview of the electoral landscape. Candidates will then have the opportunity to withdraw their nomination papers by the 12th of this month.

On the 13th of this month, the crucial process of allotting electoral symbols to candidates will take place, marking a significant step in the election preparation. The actual polling for the general elections is scheduled to occur on the 8th of the following month.

Simultaneously, a revised schedule has been established for the reserved seats of women and non-Muslims. The deadline for the scrutiny of nomination papers for these reserved seats is the 13th of this month, and the last date for filing appeals against decisions made by the Returning Officer is the 16th.

The revised list of candidates for the reserved seats is anticipated to be made public on the 20th. Candidates will then have until the 22nd of this month to withdraw their papers, leading up to the final list of contesting candidates being officially released on the 23rd of this month. This comprehensive schedule ensures a systematic and transparent electoral process in the lead-up to the upcoming general elections.
