Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid has directed Punjab Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Imran Sikandar Baloch to ensure availability of Panadol tablets in the market.
“Ensure that there is no shortage of medicines in the market, especially of those being used for treatment of dengue disease.”
Briefing the minister, Additional Secretary Drugs Control Dr Muhammad Sohail said that 32.4 million tablets of Panadol were distributed on Friday. On Monday, another 21.5 million tablets of Panadol have been distributed in Lahore, 4.5 million tablets in Faisalabad, 3.1 million tablets in Sargodha, 2.6 million tablets in Okara and 1.3 million tablets in Gujarat. Calpol is also available under company names. In this regard, the Chief Drug Controller has also informed the Drug Regulatory Authority Islamabad.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Imran Sikandar Baloch said that the availability of Panadol tablets is being ensured in the market with the help of the field force.
Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that all medical facilities including panadol tablets are available for dengue patients in government hospitals across the province.
Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Monday that 10 beds apiece for Thalessemia patients have been reserved.
Speaking as chief guest at 16th National Thalessemia Conference at Fatima Jinnah Medical University under the aegis of Thalessemia Federation of Pakistan, the Health Minister said that Punjab has been running the largest Thalessemia Prevention Program in the world.
In her speech the Health Minister said, “I congratulate Thalessemia Federation of Pakistan for creating awareness about the disease.
All Thalassemia associations commemorate the day for raising awareness. Thalassemia was first diagnosed in Pakistan in 1994. Pakistan was the first Islamic country to start pre diagnosis.
Punjab is running the world’s largest thalassemia prevention program. All NGOs had pledged to end Thalessemia in the province. Gen Dr. Salim played pivotal role in diagnosis and treatment of Thalessemia.
The Thalessemia Society at Fatima Jinnah Medical University is providing services in all 36 districts of the province. So far more than 300, 000 families have been provided free screening.
The Fatima Jinnah Medical Unversity is running awareness campaign in Punjab. The Thalassemia Federation of Pakistan is holding workshops in Lahore, Multan, Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.”
The Health Minister said all families in KPK had received Sehat Sahulat card. In Punjab, she added, card provision for all 29.3 million families as starting from 31st December.
In first phase health card will be given to familes of Lahore and Rawalpindi. She said 10 beds per hospital were reserved for thalessemia patients.
Later talking to media, Dr. Yasmin Rashid said Punjad had vaccinated 53% population so far. She said Corona and dengue situation were being monitored closely and addition of facilities was being done on daily basis.
She said all medicines including panadol were available for hospitalized patients. All facilities were available at dengue field hospital at Expo Center. Rescue 1122 was transporting dengue patients to hospitals.
To a question she said inflation had hit the world recently as Corona Pandemic affected global economy. Prime Minister Iman Khan has been working hard to improve situation and he has been promoting all sports including cricket.
