Residents of Karachi and other Sindh cities have been protesting against massive electricity loadshedding amid scorching heat.

Reports said electricity load shedding in various areas of the metropolis continues for up to 12 hours, while in suburban areas, the duration has extended to 15 hours. This has exacerbated the difficulties faced by city residents during the sweltering heat.

Protesters said suspending the electricity supply in night has become a routine, adding that K-Electric suspends supply for hours after 12 in midnight.

People staged protests in Liaqatabad 10 No, Hijrat Colony, Sultanabad, City Railway Colony, Gulshan-e-Hadid and others areas on Friday night against the loadshedding.

The situation has prompted the government to take action to control irregular loadshedding in Karachi and other cities of Sindh.

Loadshedding Schedule Karachi, other Sindh Cities

Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani has directed the K-Electric, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and Sukkar Electric Power Company (Sepco) to not suspend electricity supply from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

They have directed the three companies to ensure that there is no loadshedding during these hours in any case.

It means there would be no loadshedding from 10 pm to 6 am and people can sleep with peace in the night. However, there are no details of loadshedding schedule during the morning hours.

The provincial ministers asked them to take action against those involved in power pilferage instead of punishing common man.

Meanwhile, Sindh government has assured the three power companies of clearing their dues as soon as possible.
