As per the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid ul-Adha falls on the 10th Dhu al-Hijja – the twelfth and final month.

What is Eid ul Adha?

Eid ul Adha, Bakra Eid, also known as Feast of Sacrifice is celebrated on 10th day of Dhul Hijjah – the final month of the Islamic calendar, following Hajj. The festivities last for three days, during which Muslims gather in mosques for prayers, typically accompanied by a sermon.

The main event of Eid ul Azha is the sacrificial ritual, or Qurbani, where faithful Muslims sacrifice animals such as goats, sheep, cows, or camels to honor the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.).

The meat from the Qurbani sacrifice is divided into three portions: one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and the final portion for the needy.

This occasion is marked by joy, generosity, and a sense of community, highlighting the values of gratitude, charity, and compassion. It serves as a reminder of selflessness and the importance of making sacrifices for the benefit of others.
