Badin

The social Organization Health And Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) held seminar in the Badin Press Club to mark International Disaster Risk Reduction Day on Wednesday.

The seminar was participated by large number of representatives of social organizations, civil society, citizens, rural communities, officials and journalists.

While addressing the seminar Assistant Commissioner Badin, Muhammad Younis Rind, DDO Agriculture, Muhammad Saleh Qambrani, District Project Manager HANDS, Moula Bux Umrani, Manager, Hyder Panhwar, President Badin press club, Tanveer Ahmed Arain and others said pre arrangements and effective measures and proper awareness among the local communities could reduce the harm and damage of those natural disasters while coordination between federal and provincial disaster management, local administration and stake holders could reduce further damages.

They said the aim to mark the day was to create awareness and train those stakeholders about natural disasters and minimize the harm and loss.

They lauded the part of HANDS and Oxfam for poverty elevation particularly in coastal belt and remote areas of the district, provision of health facilities, protective kits during emergency and other services.

They said the journalists of Badin have always played pivotal role in natural disasters, downpours, earthquake and emergency and created awareness among the people through news and stories.
