Central leader of United Group of ICCI Shahid Zaman Shinwari on Saturday lauded the decision of the government to reopen pending cases of corruption in the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The move will discourage corruption and improve the working of this important institution, he said.

In a statement issued here, Shahid Zaman Shinwari said that 87 cases of corruption are pending with the FIA for years which include some mega scandals while some have been filed on the complaints of private people.

Some CDA officials have been sent to jail while recoveries worth tens of millions have been made but the majority of the cases were pending due to different reasons including lack of cooperation by the CDA officials.

Central leader UG of ICCI said that on the directives of the top officials, the Director FIA has asked the CDA through a letter to appoint an official not below the rank of deputy director as a focal person so that he can cooperate with the agency for early finalisation of pending matters. .—APP
