Chairs meeting on service structure riverine check-posts personnel Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani on Friday said that departmental promotion of personnel according to merit and seniority is the basic right of every officer and official.

Promotion structure of personnel posted at riverine check-posts should be improved and promotion boards meeting should be held till September 15.

Those who are waiting for promotion should be given their due and all the vacant seats should be filled through promotions.

IG Police Inam Ghani issued the instructions to the officers at a high-level meeting held at Central Police Office here on Friday.

Inam Ghani directed that regular meetings of promotion boards should be held and detailed reports on the progress of personnel should also be sent to the Central Police Office.

He further said that during the monsoon, exercises of personnel at riverine check-posts, especially in sensitive areas, should be continued on a daily basis and the personnel deployed at the riverine check-posts in Katcha areas should not be sent on any other duty.

Inam Ghani directed that DIG PHP should make surprise visits to the riverine check-posts in different regions and districts to review the working conditions.

The IGP said that in case of floods or high tides in rivers, the personnel deployed at riverine posts should take active part in the relief activities to protect lives and property of the citizens.

He further said that monthly reports of patrolling boats, number of personnel and fuel records at riverine posts should be compiled.

During the meeting, DIG Establishment-II Maqsoodul Hassan briefed the IGP about the promotion structure while DIG PHP Dr Abid Khan briefed about the working of riverine check-posts.

Additional IG Welfare and Finance Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Additional IGP PHP Muhammad Akram Naeem Bharoka, Additional IG Establishment Ali Amir Malik and other officers were also present in the meeting.
