THE resplendent Pakistan Day parade on Saturday once again demonstrated professionalism and military prowess of the armed forces. Against the backdrop of patriotic fervour, the three wings of armed forces showcased their dedication to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.
The parade served as a reminder of the armed forces’ unwavering resolve in the face of both internal and external threats. Recent times have seen Pakistan’s forces responding decisively to aggression from the neighbourhood, sending a loud and clear message that the nation will not tolerate any encroachment upon its territory. Internally, the valiant efforts of the armed forces in combating terrorism have been pivotal in ensuring country’s safety and security. The nation takes pride in the armed forces, acknowledging them as disciplined and proficient. While addressing the parade, President Asif Ali Zardari’s affirmation of not compromising on national sovereignty resonates deeply with the Pakistani populace, who stand united in their determination to defend country’s interests at all costs. However, ensuring sovereignty extends beyond the security realm, as it necessitates economic independence and self-reliance. Recognising this, initiatives such as Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) have been welcomed as crucial steps towards bolstering nation’s economy. By attracting foreign investment and focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, livestock, minerals, mining, information technology and energy, we can harness our full economic potential. But this will happen if political parties shun course of discord and focus on fulfilling their responsibilities. By prioritising nation’s interests above all else, Pakistan can realise its aspirations for a prosperous and self-reliant future.
