LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday appointed Australia’s David Reid as the mental performance coach for the national team for the T20 World Cup.
The board said that the team management for the T20 World Cup would include a mental performance coach.
David Reid, a renowned mental health expert from Australia, had previously worked with the IPL team Chennai Super Kings, the Big Bash League team Melbourne Stars and Australian Olympic athletes.
Reid is also known for guiding athletes to stay focused on their targets.
The Australian mental health expert would be available to the team for the T20 World Cup and the England tour. He would join the Pakistan cricket team on May 20.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that focusing on players’ mental health is not only a priority for the board but also a fundamental commitment, as on-field performance is directly related to the players’ mental state.
The PCB chairman expressed hope that the presence of an experienced expert like David Reid will benefit Pakistani players both on and off the field.
