A local court handed down capital punishment to a rapist on three counts in the rape and murder case of two minor girls. The incident had occurred in Mauza Chamnabad of Mailsi Tehsil in Vehari district some 11 months ago.
The Mailsi Saddr Police had registered a case of the gruesome incident and arrested the accused. The accused had confessed to his crime in police custody.
According to the police, the accused had raped a five-year-old and a seven-year-old girl and then murdered them. The court also fined the rapist Rs400,000 and ruled that he would have to undergo two years further vigorous imprisonment if fails to pay the fine.
The court heard the case on a priority basis and concluded the trial to pronounce the verdict.
The court verdict draw applause from far and wide and people termed it appropriate and timely in view the rise rape and gangrape. People demanded stringent laws to prevent rising rape incidents, especially against children.
