As the security has been beefed up in Peshawar in the wake of upcoming religious festivals, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has imposed complete ban on the entry of Afghan refugees in the provincial capital during Eid ul Azha as well as Moharram ul Haraam.
“Afghan refugees in Peshawar will face a complete entry ban during Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram”. Capital City Police Chief Qasim Ali Khan made an announcement to this effect while talking to the media adding that we will also stop altogether the entry of illegal Afghan citizens into the city during these religious events.
Qasim Ali Khan informed that the police will re-conduct security audits of sensitive locations and places of worship. Afghan refugees, particularly those entering illegally, are a focal point of these heightened measures. “The police aim to ensure the safety of all residents”. The CCPO added.
He said practical steps will be taken to curb street crime. Afghan refugees will see strict enforcement of this entry ban, especially around Eid and Muharram. Peshawar Police are committed to maintaining peace and order during these significant religious occasions.
The city police officer assured that extraordinary security arrangements are a top priority. Afghan refugees in Peshawar need to be aware of these new restrictions. The primary goal is the peaceful observance of Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram and there will be no compromise over the security of the citizens of the provincial metropolis.
“Protection of life and property of the Peshawarites and ensuring their peaceful environment during the religious events will be ensured at all costs”. The district administration said.
