Commissioner Hazara Division. Riaz Khan Mehsud has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to take stern action against those involved in price hike & hoarding and said that profiteering and hoarding would never be tolerated and those found violating the law would be dealt strictly. He directed to ensure ample availability of edible items in the market on prescribed rates and asked the Deputy Commissioners to involve all government machinery and available resources to curb the menace of price hike.
He was presiding over a meeting in-compliance with the directives of Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at his office here on Friday. All Deputy Commissioners of Hazara Division, Deputy Director Hilal Food Authority and representative of Divisional Director Food attended the meeting.
Commissioner Hazara said that no one would be allowed to cheat the general public and strict action would be taken against profiteers and those who were creating artificial shortage of edibles to gain more profit. He urged the public to check the price of edibles and if they found anyone involved in profiteering or hoarding then register their complaint with concerned deputy commissioner.
He asked to ensure display of rate lists at viable places on every shop, market and malls and if anyone found deviating it will not be spared.
He further directed that respective Magistrates must visit markets every morning along with the representative of Food, Agriculture and other concerned departments to check the prices of all edibles, including fruits & vegetables. He directed them to monitor the data regarding prices of chicken, vegetables, ghee, sugar, pluses and flour and shared on daily basis.
Commissioner assigned the duty to Magistrates to monitor all the 31 flour mills in Hazara Division on regular basis and told that Intelligence Agencies would be involved to point out the hoarders, check the stock position of Utility Stores and submit report accordingly.
