The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan during a meeting of Provincial Task Force, has expressed its satisfaction on progress made so far on developmental schemes and other public welfare initiatives in Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) The forum has, however, stressed need of filling vacancies in various line departments of the district specially education and health; and has directed the quarters concerned for necessary steps on urgent basis.
Held here at Chief Minister Secretariat, the meeting was attended by provincial cabinet members Shahram Tarakai, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Shaukat Yousfzai and Kamran Bangash, Corps Commander Peshawar, Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood, Chief Secretary, Dr. Kazim Niaz, IGP, Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi, concerned administrative secretaries and other relevant civil and military high ups. The meeting was given detailed briefings by various departments about the progress on their respective developmental schemes in the district.
Regarding the overall developmental portfolio of the district, it was informed that developmental schemes worth Rs.58.00 billion had been reflected in the Annual Development Program (ADP) for Kurram district adding that besides others, developmental schemes to the tune of Rs. 22.00 billion have been approved under the Accelerated Implementation Plan (AIP) whereas developmental schemes to the tune of Rs. 23.00 billions have been approved for the district under the ADP of the merged districts. It was further informed that under the AIP, Rs. 2.9 billions had been allocated for health sector whereas Rs. 1.1 billions had been allocated for Elementary and Secondary sector of the district.
“Under the supervision of Pak Army, 199 developmental projects of various nature had been completed in the district and work is in progress on 146 other projects”, the forum was informed.
