Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Friday paid a surprise visit to different areas of the Provincial Capital Peshawar without any security protocol to review the overall situation of traffic management and sanitation in the city.
The chief minister visited GT Road, University Road, Hayatabad, Ring Road and other areas.
The chief minister expressing his dissatisfaction on poor traffic management on University Road, directed SSP Traffic for immediate steps to improve the overall traffic situation in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic on all busy roads including University Road.
The chief minister while taking notice of absence of traffic police personnel on a section of Ring Road has sought report from the SSP Traffic to this end.
Mahmood Khan while expressing his displeasure over the dilapidated center median, out of order traffic signals and poor sanitation situation on the eastern section of Ring Road has directed the Peshawar Development Authority and Water Supply & Sanitation Company to immediately fix the traffic signals, repair center median and ensure cleanliness on the said road and to submit a report in this regard.
The chief minister, during the visit, reviewed construction work on Hazar Khwani Public Park on Ring Road and directed the authorities concerned to expedite civil work on the project and make it sure that a facility is opened to public in all respects as per stipulated timelines.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that, to revive the beauty of peshawar city was among the top priority of the incumbent government adding that serious steps were being taken in this regard.
He further said that in order to resolve traffic issues in peshawar city on permanent basis concrete measures were being taken under long term and short term plans.
Mahmood Khan said that he was personally supervising development affairs of the peshawar city and he would continue his surprise visits of the district.
