KARACHI – All terrorists were gunned down who stormed the Karachi police office in the latest terror attack in the port city of Karachi on Friday.
An operation was launched with commandos, Sindh Rangers, and other law enforcement personnel in action, a Special Security Unit spokesperson said.
During the operation, one rescue worker, two security officials, and a Rangers personnel has been injured in the crossfire that continued for more than an hour. At least two bodies and six injured have been brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.
Clips doing rounds show the closure of Shahrah-e-Faisal Road, a key artery in a city of over 15 million people while gunshots can be heard, creating panic among local residents.
Earlier, Several blasts were heard, with heavy gunfire erupting afterward outside the Karachi police office located at Shahrah-e-Faisal in the port city.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack. A huge contingent of law enforcement agencies and paramilitary officials rushed to the area.
No casualties have been reported so far, while officials reportedly turned off the lights and blocked all entrances. Eyewitnesses claimed attackers hurled grenades from the backyard of the police head office and barged into the multi-story building.
Additional Inspector General Javed Alam Odho confirmed the attack outside his office in his brief interaction with a local media outlet. Tickers flashing on local media outlets claimed that there could be 8-10 assailants who stormed the building using latest weapons.

The brazen attack alarmed the people of the country’s largest city Karachi. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and other top officials of the country’s southeastern region took notice of the terror attack and sought a report from the officer concerned.
PM Sahehbaz condemns attack, orders grand operation against terrorists
Soon Pafter the attack, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly denounced the terror attack and sought a report from Interior Minister.
Sharif, who is in Turkey on a solidarity visit, directed officials to start grand operation against militants in the building of Karachi Police Office. He also commended the police and security forces for tackling terrorists timely.
