LAHORE – The beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) are all set to see an increase of Rs3,000 in their quarterly payment, starting from January 2025 in Pakistan, under the BISP Kafaalat initiative.

Currently, the registered families are withdrawing Rs10,500 per quarter. However, the amount will be increased to Rs13,500 per quarter from Jan 2025.

BISP Kafaalat, which was launched in 2008, has emerged as the largest single cash transfer programme in Pakistan’s history. It has both short and long-term objectives.

The short term objective of the initiative is to protect marginalised people from negative effects of higher inflation, food crisis and poor economic growth.

The long term objectives of program is to eradicate extreme and chronic poverty, along with women empowerment, as set out in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BISP Kafaalat PMT Score for Registration

Beneficiaries are selected through scientific mode of Proxy Means Test (PMT) through National Socio Economic Registry (NSER) survey for the BISP Kafaalat programme.

As per official website, the welfare status of a household is determined on a scale between 0-100 of the PMT. The PMT cut-off score for eligibility is decided by BISP Board on the basis of available fiscal space. All families falling within the approved PMT cut-off score are being provided cash assistance under Benazir Kafaalat Programme.

The current PMT cut-off score of 32 was approved by the BISP Board in its 52ndmeeting held on 23rd September, 2021. However, for families with a differently abled person, the PMT cut-off score is set at 37 for eligibility.
