Bid foiled to smuggle Rs15.6m wheat to KP

District administration Hafizabad has foiled an attempt to smuggle a heavy contingent of wheat worth Rs. 15.6 million from Hafizabad to KPK. According to details, Assistant Commissioner Hafizabad Murad Hussain received information that many trucks loaded with wheat are on its way to KPK from different places in the area of Hafizabad illegally.

On this information, AC was setup picket on the way and caught 8 trucks loaded with 5600 sacks of wheat worth Rs. 15.6 million.

Assistant Commissioner said that district Hafizabad had been allotted to Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Service Corporation for purchasing wheat from farmers but some greedy elements tried to smuggle wheat from Hafizabad to KPK illegally.

All 8 trucks have been sent to PASSCO procurement centre and this action has been taken under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza, he added.
