DURING his visit to Bagh sector near the Line of Control,
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa very aptly stated that India is trying to shift the global attention from occupied Kashmir to the LoC and Pakistan and we must not give it any opportunity to cover up the crimes it is committing in the occupied territory.
Indeed the most illegal and contrary to international laws act came from India in recent days in the form of revocation of special status of occupied Kashmir. To avoid any backlash, the Indian forces have put in place a complete security lockdown and communication blackout. As the world is increasingly expressing concern over the illegal step of scrapping the special status of IoK, India may resort to or orchestrate any act to divert world attention away from the current situation in occupied Kashmir where the people were not even allowed to offer their Eid prayers. To achieve its evil design, the extremist government in India can repeat Pulwama like incident to malign Pakistan. But as the army chief was referring to, we should stay focused on highlighting what kind of situation the Kashmiris are going through every day. The territory indeed has been turned into a complete prison and our media has a greater role to portray the true picture to the world. Then it is also for our civilian leadership that they keep their engagements with important capitals including those from the Muslim world and factually apprise them about the human rights violations and war crimes being committed in the held valley. Being party to the lingering dispute and true advocate of the rights of Kashmiri people, responsibility rests with Pakistan to gear up its efforts at diplomatic level to expose the true face of India before the world. As Pakistan is preparing to move a resolution at the UNSC against the illegal annexation of occupied Kashmir by India, our Foreign Minister should also contact other permanent members of the Council in order to garner their support. It is also for the permanent members to stand with the oppressed and those whose rights have been trampled whilst rejecting any kind of expediency.
